Managing Your
Profile:
| 1.
Why does my profile not show up in when I do
a search? |
|
The most
likely answer is that you have not followed the
instructions you received in your confirmation email
to confirm your profile. In order to confirm your
profile please go to http://www.pyar.org/yuserok.htm.
The other
possibility is that you are using the wrong search
criteria. First check what you have entered in your
profile here.
Also check that you have entered your gender correctly
by going here.

photo |

Make sure
that your photo is a .jpg or a .gif file.
Make sure that the file name of your photo does not
contain any spaces or punctuation marks
Make sure that the file name of your photo is not all
numeric.
Make sure that the file size of your photo is less
than 45Kb. If your photo is larger than 45Kb, then you
will need to go into your image software and open the
file. Select the "Resize" option then set
the longer of the two dimensions to 450 pixels. Then
save the file and try again. If you have difficulties
with this, go to the Help facility in your image
software and look for "Resize".

My
profile does not show up when I search for it |
|
When you
first enter your profile you will be sent an email
with confirmation details. Your profile will not show
up in the general search until you have followed the
instructions in this email.
All new
profiles, and all profiles which have been modified or
have had a photo uploaded are manually checked by us
to prevent abuse of the site. This is done at least
once a day. No profile will be displayed in the
general search until it has been manually checked.
Contacting
People:

You will then be presented with a large box for
entering the text of your message.

Problems
Accessing the Site or your Messages:
| 11.
My user ID and password do not work. |
|
That's
almost certainly because you are not entering them
correctly. Enter them exactly as they appear in the
email you will have received. Remember that they are
case sensitive so "Ahmed" is not the same as
"ahmed". Remember also not to enter any
extra space: "ahmed " is not the same as
"ahmed". If you have entered punctuation
marks in either your user ID or password, this can
also cause problems. Eg: my%id or my!pass will not
work. If you have entered punctuation marks in your
password you should try to change it, but if that does
not work you should delete your profile and enter a
new one.
| 12.
When I enter my User ID and Password, it just
asks me for them again. |
|
That's
because you do not have "cookies" enabled in
your browser. This site needs "cookies" in
order to be able to function correctly. Go to the Help
facility in your browser and search on "enabling
cookies". Follow the instructions to allow your
browser to accept cookies. Users of Internet Explorer
or Netscape can get further
instructions here.

I received an email saying I had received a
message, but when I looked, it wasn't there |
|
This means
that the person's profile was deleted after they sent
the message. They may have deleted it themselves or we
may have deleted it. We delete all profiles which
display direct contact information, or which are
engaged in fraud. Typically the people engaged in
fraud send out a very large number of messages and so
it is not uncommon to be notified about a message
which we have subsequently removed.
| 16.
I cannot see any new messages |
|
See the
question above. If the sender's profile is still on
the site and you are still unable to see the message,
then you are probably having a problem with your
browser cache. When you visit any web page, your
browser software keeps a copy of it on your computer.
If you visit that page again, it is much quicker for
the computer to show you the copy it has saved, rather
than looking up the page on the internet again. The
problem with that is that, if the page has changed
since you last visited it you will not be seeing the
newest version. You may be able to fix the problem by
pressing the Refresh button on your browser. If you
are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools / Internet
Options then click on Settings in the Temporary
Internet Files area. On the next screen make sure that
your browser is checking for newer versions of stored
pages either Automatically or Every Visit To The Page.
