Pyar.org
makes every possible attempt to keep this a safe site
where you can find and make contact with a potential
spouse. However it is very important that you
exercise common sense and bear in mind the following
important safety advice:
- People are not
always what they claim to be. We have no way of
verifying the details which people enter about
themselves. The vast majority of people using the
site are honest people who have provided an
accurate description of themselves, but there are
those who enter false information for their own
reasons. Try to get independent references.
- Do not give out
personal contact details too early. You are
strongly advised to maintain initial contact using
only the messaging service of this site. Only when
you are comfortable should you give out even your
email address. Once you have given out your phone
number or postal address you cannot take it back,
so make absolutely sure that the person you are
dealing with is not the sort of person who is
going to be harassing you in future.
- Always be polite. It
is possible that you may receive an abusive
message from somebody you have rejected, or who
takes offence at the contents of your profile. DO
NOT RESPOND. It will only make things worse. If
this happens you should not delete the message but
you should report it to us at info@pyar.org
- If you arrange an
initial meeting with somebody, make sure either
that you have a guardian in attendance or that it
is in a public place where no harm can come if
they are not all that they have claimed.
- Beware of people
seeking marriage simply to obtain a foreign visa.
- Be particularly
cautious about profiles (especially female
profiles) from Sierra Leone, Senegal, Nigeria and
Gambia. Criminals have entered fake profiles from
those countries in the hope of defrauding people
on the site.
- Occasionally people
have used the site to send out fraudulent
financial messages such as this one:
"It is my pleasure
to contact you for your assistance which I
believe would be of great benefit to us. Though I
have not met with you before but I believe one has
to take a boldness in faith in surviving
sometimes in life. There is this huge amount of
money Eighteen million U.S dollars($18,000,000.00)
which my late father deposited with a security
company as FAMILY VALUABLES AND TREASURES here in
abidjan cote d'ivoire before he was assassinated by
unknown persons. Now I and my
sister decided to invest these money in your country
or anywhere safe enough outside Africa for security
and political reasons. We want you to help us claim
and retrieve these fund from the security company
and transfer it into your personal account in your
country for investment purposes on profitable
ventures. If you can be of an assistance to us
we will be pleased to offer to you 15% Of the total
fund. I await your soonest response. Please do
contact me on my confidential e-mail on
: [removed] Due to the present on
going political crises in our country as most
financial organizations and some banks are been
vandalized and looted, the security company has
informed us that they have cargoed all their
consignments abroad. so presently our consignment
has been transferred abroad for security
purpose."
- Another type of
fraud involves starting a dialogue in a perfectly
normal manner, asking about you and telling you
about them. Once they have got your interest
(typically, although not always, the profile is of
a female who is very good looking) they will say
that they are in another country (typically, but
not always, Africa) and that they need some money
for the air fare or for the visa to visit you in
your country. By this stage you will probably have
talked to them on the phone and will have built up
a bit of a relationship with them. If you send the
money, they will ask for some more on some other
excuse. In any event you will never meet the
person as it is a fraud. If you start a dialogue
with someone from this site and they ask you for
money for ANY reason, DO NOT GIVE IT. Contact us
with the details, including the user ID.
- A third type of
fraud involves offering jobs, typically, although
not always, in the hotel or cruise shipping
businesses. They will offer to pay for you travel
from India to the country where the job is
(usually Canada) and to organise your visa for
you. A surprisingly large number of you fall for
this one, even though you should be extremely
suspicious if you are getting job offers through a
matrimonial site. IT IS FRAUD. Do not respond to
these people.
These are common
frauds. If you receive such a message please inform us
immediately. In fact, if you receive any message
concerning financial arrangements you should let us
know.
We hope and expect that
you will have no problems using this site, but if you
do, please report it to us.
